We are a Vienna-based group of architects, social anthropologists and artists exploring
the links between architecture and asylum in Europe. We work in the field of prohibited
zones of architecture. Our goal is to kick off a debate about architectural design of
spaces of asylum in Europe, as the topic is often misused by the media, by politics
and underrepresented in architectural debates.

In 2011, the project started with ground research funded by the Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky
Stipendium of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, the Arts and Culture (bm:ukk).
In 2012, the installation "endlich.oesterreich Grenz-Räume Asyl" on living conditions of
asylum seekers in Vienna was organized at Karlsplatz in Vienna.
Since 2013, a series of booklets has been produced to feed the discussion.
In addition to further research within the field of asylum, we are preparing for wider
public activities such as exhibitions, lectures and conferences.
